Job Description

The Translation and Interpretation program adopts an interdisciplinary approach and, in addition to practical translation and interpretation skills, explores the cultural, historical, and political embeddedness of language, translation, and interpretation practices.  The position requires an interdisciplinary approach to cultural, literary, and translation theory as well as the kind of skills required to teach practical techniques of translation and interpretation.  Knowledge of, and the ability to teach, simultaneous interpretation will be considered an advantage. 

Qualifications

The successful candidate would ideally have Turkish or English as a first language and fluency in the other as a second language. The applicant must have a Ph.D. and an active interest in research and publication.

Term of Employment

EMU offers a competitive salary. The initial appointment is for eleven months starting September 15, 2008, renewable for two years, contingent upon successful performance.
