Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Undergraduate Program (B.A., 4 Years)

General Information

The fundamental aim of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Undergraduate Program is to cater for the demand of food and beverage sectors for qualified and professional chefs who possess the skills to produce quality food and beverages from different national and international cuisines.

To serve for this purpose, our program has been designed to bring up creative, skilled and talented managers who possess analytical thinking, effective communication and research skills in producing information as well as developing and applying it effectively.

Having successfully completed the four-year degree program, students receive an undergraduate degree in the field of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. In accordance with the structure of the hospitality and food-beverage sectors, along with theoretical instruction, students meet the graduation conditions by pursuing internship opportunities for 75 days in hospitality businesses and restaurant kitchens at the end of the 1st and 3rd years.

Education

The Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Undergraduate Program brings up chefs who are well-equipped in the area of world and local cuisine. The instructional language is English and courses, both theory and practice, are delivered by qualified staff who possess valuable sectoral experience.

Facilities

Our faculty boasts an array of student facilities. In addition to the kitchens and restaurants operating under our faculty, the opening of our new demo kitchen and restaurant took place during the 2013-2014 Academic Year. Additionally, all classrooms are equipped with non-stop internet access, projectors and computers. Students may visit their instructors during scheduled office hours and receive information in person.

Career Opportunities

Our students receive job offers even during their internship period. Our graduates have a wide spectrum of job opportunities in food and beverage sub-branches of the tourism sector. Students in the program carry out their internship in 5 and 4-star hotels or first class holiday villages and gain in-depth knowledge regarding the food and beverage operations. EMU Beach Club is also another place providing the students with opportunities for internship. Hilton, Sheraton, Swiss Hotel, Marriott, Kempinski, Radisson SAS, Holiday Inn, Merit Hotels, Dedeman, Kaya Hotels, Golden Tulip, Noah's Ark and, Arkın Group Hotels are only a few of the places where our students may pursue internship opportunities.
