Law and Ethics (HKUK471)
The basic value which creates a connection between law and ethics is justice. Within this framework, legal rules and applications must be in conformity with requirements of justice. That is why people who are exercising this profession, in other words lawyers must be just people. Being just is connected with improving the feeling of justice. On the other hand feeling of justice is related with understanding and applying requirements of justice and acting according to these requirements. This course aims to teach ethical principles and values which are special to law profession and must be followed by lawyers. Professional ethics special to lawyers includes duties abaout making and enforcing codes. These duties are closely connected with virtues like honesty, impartiality, reliability, objectivity etc.
