In the current era of increasing international competition and fast-changing technological developments, the mission of Eastern Mediterranean University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management is to train highly qualified advanced and intermediate workforce providing social and economical contributions to the tourism sector both in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Following its establishment in 1990, School of Tourism and Hospitality Management offered only an A.A.S. degree. In 1992, it started offering a BS degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management and in 2002, the School started offering undergraduate education in Recreational Management. Being aware of the importance of IT and foreign language education, the School pays special attention in equipping students with foreign language and computer skills.
Considering the needs of the tourism sector, the School also emphasizes practical training besides theoretical education. To serve this purpose, the demo kitchen and the Tower restaurant and Beach Club, the world-wide used computer programs FIDELIO, GALILEO, and AMADEUS all aim to provide students with practical knowledge and an education which matches the needs of the scientific and technological era.
The philosophy of the School is to provide an education which will enable its students to graduate with the ability to think, to express themselves with grace and clarity in writing and speech, to maintain values in relation to their chosen profession, and to demonstrate confidence in themselves.
Through the Tourism and Hospitality Management, Recreational Management and Hospitality Services programs, the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management aims to bring up intellectually developed intermediate work force who will meet the demands of the world tourism sector in managerial positions. As well as meeting the sectoral needs and preparing them for the professional life, our programs motivate students in becoming creative and innovative individuals. With the advantages provided by the educational program supported by relevant practice opportunities, our students pursue a wide spectrum of job opportunities upon their graduation. An elite group of prominent and experienced academics who have major publications in international journals or who have given many years to the sector offers quality education at our School.
