Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Light of the Island Children’s Chorus and Sevda Cenap And Music Foundation Jeunesses Musicalles Ankara Children’s Chorus came together on February 15th, 2014 at 15:00 at Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Hall. TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transportation Dr. Ahmet Kaşif, who supported the intracity transportation for the guests, also attended the event to which there was keen participation.
Light of the Island Children’s Chorus was led by Erkan Dağlı, EMU Faculty of Education Fine Arts Education Department teaching staff member and EMU Light of the Island Children’s Chorus conductor at the concert that was held as part of the cooperation protocol between EMU and Sevda Cenap And Music Foundation. The conductor of the guest choruses was Fatma Bildiren, conductor and trainer experienced from TRT Children’s Choruses.
Both choruses sang universal children’s songs at the concert as well as children and love themed songs. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah Y. Öztoprak who gave a speech at the event stated his thanks to everyone who contributed to the event, and that it was a great pleasure to make such a beautiful project real.
“The Most Meaningful Event of My Career”
Dağlı, conductor of EMU Light of the Island Children’s Chorus, stated his special thanks to Sevda Cenap And Music Foundation Jeunesses Musicalles Ankara Children’s Chorus and it was a pleasure to work together. Bildiren, on the other hand, mentioned that it was the most meaningful event of her career and her endless gratitude for all those who contributed. Prof. Dr. Öztoprak presented a silver plate to Bildiren as a symbol of her participation.
