Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Tourism Faculty, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts academic staff member, Specialist Pastry Chef Pınar Barut once again returned with an award from the international competition she participated in. The Cake International event that took place in the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham, UK with the participation of more than 2,000 competitors and a huge crowd of audience is considered to the biggest and the most difficult international pastry competition that takes place for more than 20 years with huge popularity.
Specialist Pastry Chef Pınar Barut participated in “Small Decorative Exhibit” category within the competitions and she won the “Silver” medal for the category. Upon her return to Cyprus, Barut was welcomed with excitement by her colleagues from Tourism Faculty as well as her students in the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. She said; “I represented Eastern Mediterranean University and I won the “Silver” medal. I am very proud to be the only participant from Cyprus” during her interview.
In a statement, EMU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that now a full-time staff member Pınar Barut was a part-time staff member in the previous years, moreover she is a part of Cooks and Chefs Federation of Turkey. Kılıç added that Pınar Barut has returned with an award from all the Pastry Competitions in Cake International competitions she participated in since 2011. Kılıç expressed his emotions by stating his pride of Pınar Barut.
