Eastern Mediterranean University’s 2022 – 2023 Academic Year Spring Semester Postgraduate Graduation Ceremony was held on Tuesday, 11 July, 2023, at 16:00, at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center. At the ceremony, 267 master’s and 47 doctorate graduates received their diplomas. Present at the ceremony that was broadcast live worldwide via the social media accounts of EMU and EMU TV were National Unity Party (UBP) Kyrenia member of the parliament Hasan Küçük, EMU Board of Trustees President Dr. Erdal Özcenk, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın, Rauf Denktaş University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Bıçak, World Peace University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sağsan, Famagusta Mayor Dr. Süleyman Uluçay, EMU Board of Trustees Members, Vice Rectors, Institute for Graduate Studies and Research Director Prof. Dr. Ali Hakan Ulusoy and Assistant Directors, Members of the Senate, Faculty Members, graduates and their families.
The ceremony started with the entrance of the 2021-2022 Academic Year Spring Semester Postgraduate Program Graduates to the ceremony area accompanied by music and applause. After a Moment of Silence and the National Anthem, a recital performance by the artist EMU Education Faculty, Fine Arts Education Department, Music Teaching Program Academic Staff Member and Pianist Atakan Sarı took place. After the music concert, pianist Atakan Sarı was presented with flowers by EMU Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu. Then, EMU Faculty of Law post-graduate program graduate Nisa Sunca delivered a speech on behalf of post-graduate program graduates. On the other hand, EMU Engineering Faculty Electrical and Electronic Engineering Doctorate Program graduate Mohammad Sohail delivered speeches on behalf of doctoral graduates. Expressing that they received a quality education at EMU, the graduates thanked their families, teachers and friends who supported them in their success. Alumni also commemorated the Champion Angels in their speeches.
“As an EMU graduate, Make A Difference”
Speaking at the opening of the ceremony, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın congratulated the graduates and their families who always supported them for their devoted work. Prof. Dr. Hocanın also thanked the academic personnel members who contributed to the contribution of the works they produced to science. Providing information about EMU's history, accreditations and its position in various independent world rankings, Prof. Dr. Hocanın underlined that EMU will continue its steady growth and sustainable success by providing quality education, world-class research opportunities, and maintaining its mission of serving the community. Noting that he had no doubts that the graduates would always be loyal to the ethical values and principles they have acquired at EMU, Prof. Dr. Hocanın advised the graduates to make a difference as EMU graduates.
“You will carry the EMU Torch with Pride”
EMU Board of Trustees President Dr. Erdal Özcenk also stated in his speech that EMU has always contributed to science at the highest level with its mission of quality education. Dr. Özcenk noted that in the light of science, EMU is raising well-equipped graduates who are experts in their fields. Expressing that the graduates are part of the EMU family, Dr. Özcenk emphasized that he fully believes that they will represent EMU in various parts of the world in the best possible way. Dr. Özcenk also stated that the graduates have graduated from a very high quality university and they have no doubt that they will proudly carry the blazing science torch at EMU and will always illuminate the path of science wherever they are in the world. Dr. Özcenk wished the graduates to fill this new and clean page they have opened in their lives with brand new success and happiness.
2022 – 2023 Academic Year Spring Semester Post-Graduate Graduation Ceremony continued with the presentation of doctoral diplomas by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hocanın and appreciation plaques to doctoral thesis advisors and co-thesis advisors by EMU Board of Trustees President Dr. Erdal Özcenk. EMU Institute for Graduate Studies and Research Director Prof. Dr. Ali Hakan Ulusoy and Deputy Directors Prof. Dr. Kağan Günçe and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Rizaner presented the diplomas to the post-graduate program graduates. The ceremony ended with the counting down from 10 accompanied by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın and the students throwing their caps into the air with great enthusiasm.
