Within the scope of the New Scholarship System initiated by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) on 23 July 2020, charitable persons, institutions and organizations, under the title of ‘Scholarship Provider’, continue to offer scholarships to successful students or students with financial difficulties who have gained the right to study at the university. Another institution supporting EMU's New Scholarship System is Suna and Ata ATUN, History of Famagusta, Research and Literature Foundation (SAMTAY).
“I THANK SAMTAY Foundation”
An agreement was signed between EMU and SAMTAY Foundation on Tuesday, 18 August 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın’s office under the title of “Suna Atun Special Student Scholarship Agreement”. Among those present at the ceremony were EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın, SAMTAY Foundation Managers Asu Atun and Sunat Atun and Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu. Speaking at the Signing Ceremony EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın stated that with the scholarship system developed by EMU, students who are successful and have financial difficulties are supported by charitable business people, institutions and organizations. Rector of EMU went on to state "I thank SAMTAY Foundation for this charitable and noteworthy behavior."
“We are Happy to Be Supporting Students”
SAMTAY Foundation Manager Asu Atun said, “Our foundation was established in 2000 by my mother Suna Atun and my father Ata Atun. We currently have a library belonging to our foundation. We continue to serve Famagusta and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). We are very happy that we have given such a scholarship and also proud to be sharing it with EMU." In his speech, SAMTAY Foundation Manager Sunat Atun said, “My father, as a scientist, left important legacies to future generations. My late mother liked to take care of people with educational problems. We are pleased to sign such a social responsibility project on behalf of our foundation ”.
