“Intellectual Property Rights In Digital Era” Panel Held at EMU in Memory of Prof. Dr. Esin Konanç

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Law and Intellectual Property Rights Research and Application Center (FIMAUM) organized “Intellectual Property Rights in Digital Era” panel on Friday, 20 December 2024 at 03:30 p.m. at EMU Faculty of Law LA1 Hall. Held for the 16th time this year, the panel was organized in memory of late Esin Konanç, Former Dean of the EMU Faculty of Law and EMU Faculty of Law Criminal Law Professor, who sadly passed away in 2009 due to a traffic accident.

Delivering the opening speech of the panel, Acting Dean of EMU Faculty of Law Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arzu Alibaba mentioned about the contributions of Prof. Dr. Esin Konanç to the EMU Faculty of Law and her significant studies in the field of law.

Various Topics Discussed

The panel featured various presentations; “A Broad View on Intellectual Property Rights” by EMU Faculty of Law academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Koçano Rodoslu, “Copyright on User-Generated Content Platforms” by EMU Faculty of Law research assistant Gönül Derya who talked in detail regarding the copyrights of work provided through content platforms, and “Copyright on Work Produced through Artificial Intelligence” by research assistant Murat Özad who provided insight on how to evaluate copyrights of work produced via AI.

Certificates of Appreciation Presented

At the end of the event that received high level of participation, Acting Dean of EMU Faculty of Law Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arzu Alibaba presented the participants with certificates of appreciaton. With this meaningful event organized to honour the academic legacy of late Prof. Dr. Esin Konanç, offered participants valuable insights into the latest developments in intellectual property rights.
