Eastern Mediterranean University, Tourism Faculty, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department came second at the “University” category of the ‘8th International Golden Toque Contest’ which was held in Antalya, Turkey.
EMU Tourism Faculty, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department, Food Production Coordinator and academic staff member Kurtuluş Özbaşar, academic staff member Hakan Açıl and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department students Emine Uysal, Tanya Kilitkayalı and Meryem Korkut represented Eastern Mediterranean University in the said contest.
Acting Dean of EMU Tourism Faculty Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç provided information about the contest and stated that the participating team demonstrated their skills at the said contest with “Butter Sauteed Beef Tenderloin, Potato Gratin, Sauteed Vegetables and Fresh Vegetable Sprouts”.
Prof. Dr. Kılıç also put forth that EMU Tourism Faculty will be represented in further competitions, namely, 14th Istanbul Gastronomy Festival between 11 and 14 February and “University Chefs Competition” taking place within the framework of EDT-Ev Fair between 23 and 26 March 2016.
Highlighting the importance of Culinary Arts studies, Prof. Dr. Kılıç extended his congratulations and appreciation to all participating students and academic staff members for their contributions to Eastern Mediterranean University’s international reputation.
