Within the scope of the 10th International Career Days organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Alumni Communication and Career Research Directorate, Faculty of Law organized an “Intellectual Property Rights” panel on Friday, 8 April 2022 at 11:30 at the Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Conference Hall.
The panel commenced with the speeches delivered by the Chair of EMU Intellectual Property Rights Research and Application Center (FIMAUM) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arzu Alibaba, Law Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Turgut Turhan and EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın. In the opening speeches, it was emphasized that despite the importance of intellectual property rights, violations of these rights are common in our country and that FIMAUM will be an important center for raising awareness in terms of intellectual property rights in our country.
During the panel which was chaired by the FIMAUM Advisory Board member, EMU Law Faculty and Atılım University Law Faculty academic staff member Prof. Dr. Celal Göle, the panelists were FIMAUM Advisory Board members; EMU Law Faculty and Atılım University Law Faculty academic staff member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kılıçoğlu, Ankara University Law Faculty academic staff member and Ankara University Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights Research and Application Center (FISAUM) Director Prof. Dr. Arzu Oğuz, Özyeğin University Law Faculty academic staff member Prof. Dr. Nuray Ekşi and Ankara University Political Sciences Faculty academic staff member Prof. Dr. Feyzan Hayal Şehirali Çelik.
The panelists informed the participants about what intellectual property rights are and how these rights can be protected against infringement. Moreover, emphasized that need of developing the necessary legal regulations as soon as possible for the effective protection of intellectual property rights in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Within the scope of the panel, application examples were also given to students who want to continue their careers in the field of intellectual property law after graduation. Law Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Turgut Turhan presented traditional Cypriot souvenirs to Prof. Dr. Celal Göle, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kılıçoğlu, Prof. Dr. Arzu Oğuz, Prof. Dr. Nuray Ekşi and Prof. Dr. Feyzan Hayal Şehirali Çelik. At the end of the panel, participants of the FIMAUM logo competition were presented with certificates of participation. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arzu Alibaba presented the awards to the winning contestants.
