The “Champion Angels Masters Memorial Tournament” organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Sports Affairs Directorate is completed. Maraş Volleyball School – Masters and Manifest team competed in the Final round which brought great excitement to the audience. Maraş Volleyball School team defeated its opponent and completed the tournament as the champion, followed by Manifest team in second place, EMU Sports Affairs Directorate team in third and EMU Nursing Team in fourth place.
The final game of the tournament was attended by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, EMU General Secretary Derviş Ekşici, EMU Board of Trustees (VYK) Member Beyhan Gürgöze, EMU International, TR and TRNC Promotion Coordinator Murat Aktuğralı, EMU Sports Affairs Coordinator Aydın Kayol and Champion Angels Association’s Chair Ruşen Karakaya.
Following the observance of A Moment of Silence, the opening speech of the event was delivered by the Chair of Champion Angels Association Ruşen Karakaya who said; “This evening, we remembered our Champion Angels with great love, longing and respect. I wholeheartedly congratulate all the teams participating in the tournament”.
In his address, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç congratulated all the participants and said; “It was a joyful tournament. I attach special importance on event organized in memory of the ones who have passed away. As EMU, we also put great significance in organizing such events and this is the fifth edition of this tournament. I would like to everyone who have contributed to the tournament organized in memory of the Champion Angels. It was truly an emotional event. Once again, today we have observed that Famagusta is a city of volleyball enthusiasts. We will continue to commemorate our Champion Angels with our tournaments. I wish for many more meaningful tournaments to be organized”.
Highlighting the unifying power of sports, the tournament left a lasting impression as a meaningful event dedicated to preserving the memory of the Champion Angels. Aydın Kayol, EMU Sports Affairs Coordinator, expressed in his statement, “Our Champion Angels Volleyball Tournament concluded with an exciting final match. I congratulate all the participating teams and would like to thank everyone who played a key role in organizing the event, especially Coach Ecevit Cankat, the EMU Sports Affairs team, and Sedat Kılıç along with the referees who generously volunteered their time and support”.
An awards ceremony was held at the end of the tournament. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and Champion Angels Association Chair Ruşen Karakaya presented awards to the winners. Mehmet Kaya, the founder and team captain of Maraş Volleyball School, made the ceremony even more meaningful by presenting the championship trophy to Recep Kılıç, the father of Havin Kılıç from the Champion Angels, who is also his teammate.
