Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Communication Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department added a new project to the social responsibility projects it has been organizing under the roof of Community Involvement Center. The department recently organized a 3-day event with “Donate Blood, Save a Life” slogan, which was held at the EMU Health Sciences Faculty on day one, and Atatürk Square on days 2 and 3.
The Genesis Agency operating under the EMU Public Relations and Advertising Department annually organizes the blood donation. This year the event was organized with the collaborations of EMU Health Sciences Faculty and the Northern Cyprus Red Crescent Society. A blood donation station with health care teams was set up in the campus in order to provide a sterilized environment for blood donations.
The 3-day event gathered great interest from people; 25 units of blood was donated on day 1, followed by 49 and 42 units on day 2 and 3, respectively. Total of 116 units of blood was donated within the scope of the event. EMU Public Relations and Advertising Department Head and Community Involvement Center Executive Board member Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya stated that this vital event is to be re-organized during the following Spring Semester as well. At the end of the event, North Cyprus Red Crescent Society thanked all the donators from EMU family for being hope for 116 individuals.
