The 2017 Fall Meeting of the Council of Turkish Universities Continuing Education Centres (TÜSEM) was recently completed at the Selçuk University located in Konya, Turkey. The Eastern Mediterranean University, Continuing Education Centre (EMU-CEC) was represented at the meeting by the CEC coordinator Yeşim Kapsıl Çırak.
79 Turkish state universities are registered to the TÜSEM Council. The 2017 Fall Meeting was attended by 31 Continuing Education Centre representatives from 29 universities. At the meeting information about the work and activities of Continuing Education Centres from Turkey was conveyed. Presentations discussed the problems and new initiatives of Continuing Education Centres.
The opening speech defined Continuing Education Centres as centres of creating awareness that need to provide information to those who seek it without restrictions of place and time. It was decided that the TUSEM 2018 Spring Meeting will take place at the İzmir Yaşar University. Providing credit and certificates for vocational training came to the forefront at the meeting and it is important that EMU-CEC has started such work. At the meeting where EMU-CEC was the only representative in the status of a state university from Northern Cyprus, feedback about work being carried out was of the utmost value.
