Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Health Sciences Faculty, Nutrition and Dietetics Department academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Seray Kabaran represented Eastern Mediterranean University at the “International Healthy Nutrition Congress – Gastrointestinal Diseases” in İzmir.
During the said congress, Assist. Doç. Dr. Kabaran delivered a presentation titled ‘Nutrition Deficiencies in Children with Short Bowel Syndrome’ and provided information on fluid and electrolyte loss, carbohydrate malabsorption, fat malabsorption, total body sodium deficiency, iron deficiency, deficieny of fat-soluble vitamins, vitamin B12 deficiency, and zinc deficiency in children experiencing the said syndrome.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Kabaran also touched upon the necessity of the provision of energy, protein and all other important food elements for the healthy growth of children experiencing the short bowel syndrome.
