Within the framework of “Let’s Do It North Cyprus Cleanup Campaign” which took place on 5 June Environment Day with the slogan of “5 June, 5 Hours”, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah Y. Öztoprak participated in the cleanup event which was held within an area covering Famagusta Big Industrial Zone and Famagusta State Hospital between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, 5 June 2014.
The EMU Community consisting of about 100 academic and administrative staff as well as workers who participated in the campaign met at the EMU pedestrian bridge at 8:00 a.m. and took part in the cleanup operation within the specified hours. Accompanying his staff at the campaign, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Öztoprak stated his admiration of the campaign as everyone deserves to live in a clean country. Prof. Dr. Öztoprak also stressed the importance of keeping the environment clean and put forth that we should all pay special attention not to pollute the environment and contribute to the development of an environmentally aware and sensitive culture.
Among notable names who participated in the cleanup campaign which was also supported by EMU Student Council and the Environment Group were EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Nahide Gökçora and Public Relations and Press Office Director Derviş Ekşici.
