Eastern Mediterranean University is currently undergoing the inspections of the world renowned IQ Net member Turkish Standards Institute ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and ISO 10002:2014 Student Satisfaction Management System. The inspection process started with an informative meeting at the Senate Hall located at EMU Rector’s Office at 10:45 a.m. on 22 February 2016.
Vice Rector for Financial Affairs Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu, Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) TRNC Director Kemal Kızıltan, TSE representative Abdullah Ekinci, EMU Total Quality Management Inspection Center Director Hasan Kavaz and academic/administrative unit representatives attended the meeting which commenced with the opening address of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Katırcıoğlu.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Katırcıoğlu highlighted the importance of the service quality and the certification of it in institutions. Prof. Dr. Katırcıoğlu also thanked all those who contributed to the smooth operation of the certification process. TSE TRNC Director Kemal Kızıltan stated that their aim is to contribute to the betterment of the services provided by institutions. Kızıltan also added that EMU’s entire units will be evaluated via field trips and group meetings for a period of five days. Stating that he has been working in the related sector for a period of 20 years, TSE representative Abdullah Ekinci stressed the importance of information exchange and added that both his institution and the institution undergoing inspection learn from each other.
EMU Total Quality Management Center Director Hasan Kavaz also delivered a speech and stated that all units operating under Eastern Mediterranean University are ready to provide support in different areas including work security, quality, health and student satisfaction.
TSE representatives will hold meetings with unit managers and carry out inspections on documentations between 22 and 26 February 2016. The said representatives will also conduct field trips with the purpose of observing the functioning and operations of each single unit within the university. Following the inspections, EMU hopes to gain ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and ISO 10002:2014 Student Satisfaction Management System certificates which have recognition in 36 countries.
