Organised by the Social and Cultural Activities Directorate operating under Vice Rector’s Office for Student Affairs, “3rd EMU Turkish Art Music Night” took place at Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, 19 June 2015.
Within the framework of the event, popular Turkish Art Music singer Nalan Altınörs and EMU Turkish Art Music Chorus gave concerts under the conductorship of Cem Kafkas. Among popular songs sang by EMU Turkish Art Music Chorus were “Eski Dostlar”, “Sarmaşık Gülleri”, “Rüya Gibi Her Hatıra” and “Son Mektup”. Additionally, a new song entitled “Sevdim İşte” composed by EMU staff member Erhan Alihan and performed by Güler Soybir was presented to the audience.
During the event, Nalan Altınörs’ songs including “Nazende Sevgilim” and “Hatırla Sevgili” made it a truly memorable night for Turkish Art Music lovers. During the concert, Altınörs extended her gratitude to all those who contributed to the event and extended her special appreciation to EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam, who is a true art-lover.
At the end of the event, Erhan Alihan was presented a plaque by EMU Turkish Art Music Chorus Conductor Cem Kafkas, who also received a plaque of appreciation from Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan.
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan also presented a plaque of appreciation to Nalan Altınörs.
Nalan Altınörs Visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Osam
Prior to the concert, famous singer Nalan Altınörs visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam in his office. Extending her appreciation to EMU for the hospitality, Altınörs expressed her pleasure in visiting EMU. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Osam highlighted the importance of Turkish Art Music and added that in EMU, special importance is given to arts-related, cultural and social activities along with academic issues. Expressing his happiness in hosting Altınörs in EMU, Prof. Dr. Osam presented the singer a frame made of silk cocoon. During the meeting, Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan and EMU Turkish Art Music Chorus Conductor Cem Kafkas were also present.
