The Computer and Instructional Technologies Teaching Program, launched under the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Education Faculty, Computer and Instructional Technologies Education Department, will be starting to admit students as of the 2021-2022 Academic Year Fall Semester. The undergraduate program is open to applications through the EMU Entrance and Scholarship system and offers a four-year study period in the English-medium. The program is the only Computer and Instructional Technologies Teaching Program in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). The program also has international recognition.
“Profession of the Future”
EMU Education Faculty, Computer and Instructional Technologies Education Department Chair Prof. Dr. Ersun İşçioğlu made a statement regarding the subject which reads as follows: “Our program will be carried out by faculty members who are experts in their fields. Our students will also be able to benefit from one Smart Classroom, three Computer Labs and all other facilities at our university. It is thought that our program will have an important place among the professions of the future due to the need all over the world. In addition, the importance of the field has become more evident in the current pandemic period, and this is a field of science that will be needed in the future.
“Many Job Opportunities”
Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu’s statement continues as follows: “Thanks to its dynamic structure, our program includes three areas: basic computer sciences, instructional technologies and educational sciences. Therefore, our graduates will have many different job opportunities after their graduation. In addition, our graduates have the opportunity to continue their education in our postgraduate and doctorate programs approved by the Council of Higher Education.”
As highlighted before, due to the modern program structure that includes different disciplines and the need for trained humanpower in this field in recent years, our students have many different job opportunities after graduation. Some of these job opportunities are: Computer Instructor, Instructional Designer, Distance Education Developer, E-Learning / Distance Education Specialist, IT Center Management / Consultancy, Web and Multimedia Designer, Network Administrator / Architect, Software-Design Development Specialist, Computer Programmer, Technology Support Specialist, Database Administrator, and Computer Systems Designer.”
