Famous Turkish cinema, theatre and TV show artists Perihan Savaş and Turgay Tanülkü participated in an organisation titled “Talks with Artists” under the organisation of the Eastern Mediterranean University Social and Cultural Activities Directorate. The event which took place at the EMU Activity Hall had a large turnout of the students of EMU, administrative and academic staff and public.
The Artists Shared Information about their Lives
Prior to the event, Turgay Tanülkü gave an interview for EMU TV. Stating that he visited the TRNC before as part of the state theatre, Tanülkü said “I came last year too for a movie. I am trying to reach people in prisons through theatre. This is a social project. Here, we have participants from different countries and cultures, that’s why I find this organisation quite valuable”. Tanülkü also talked about his life story, when he first got acquainted with theatre and the theatre activities they offer to prisoners as part of the social projects they have carried out. The talk ended with the participants’ questions addressed to Tanülkü .
After Tanülkü , Perihan Savaş talked about her life as an artist. Highlighting the importance of love towards one’s profession, working with commitment and hardwork in the path towards success, Savaş added that “If you do not like your profession, it is impossible for you to become successful”. Savaş also talked about her role in the popular TV show “Çukur” and provided her views on the reasons for the show’s popularity. At the end of the talk, participants asked Savaş questions.
Visit to EMU Rector’s Office
Prior to the talk, famous artists Perihan Savaş and Turgay Tanülkü paid a visit to EMU Rector’s Office. Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu Oğurlu thanked the artists for taking their time in their busy schedule to visit EMU. At the end of the visit, Prof. Dr. Oğurlu presented the artists a Cypriot frame made of traditional Lefkara lace.
