In any competitive market improving quality and efficiency is vital. The challenge faced by industrial engineers is determining effective ways to make a product or service. Industrial engineering is defined as:
“…the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, material, equipment, and energy. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skills in the mathematical, physical and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems”.
General Information
The Industrial Engineering undergraduate program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org, which provides our graduates the opportunity to pursue their postgraduate studies in many prominent universities throughout the world. Department offers the opportunity to go through Double Major Program in Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Industrial Engineering program students who possess a minimum CGPA of 3:00 at the end of the third semester of their studies are given the opportunity to register for the double-major program. At the end of the program, students receive a Mechanical Engineering diploma as well as the Industrial Engineering. We continuously receive curriculum related feedback from our graduates, thanks to our graduate communication network. We closely follow the requirements of the employers and competitive professional world as well as the new approaches expected. The information obtained shapes our curriculum. In this respect, along with the core courses, courses focusing on social, cultural, behavioral and environmental aspects have been integrated into our curriculum.
Facilities
Three PC Labs and 120 computers, all connected to the internet, are at students’ own disposal. Simulation and Optimization Lab is for research purposes for all graduate and senior undergraduate students. Multi-Media Lab includes equipment related to the design of multi-media documents for audio-visual presentations. Work Study and Ergonomics Labs provide facilities to perform methods analysis and time study. Human physiology and dexterity, fatigue, workplace comfort-related tests are also conducted. There are 20 PCs and a plotter for technical drawing. Computer Integrated Manufacturing Lab has SCORA ER 14 Robot, a part of an assembly and quality control station.
