EMU-CEC Organizes Effective Communication Seminar for the Members of KTAMS

Eastern Mediterranean University Continuous Education Center (EMU-CEC) organized an educational seminar titled “Citizen Relations and Effective Communication Skills” for members of the Cyprus Turkish Civil Servants Trade Union (KTAMS). The seminar was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Türksoy, the Vice Dean of the EMU Faculty of Communication.

Effective Communication Methods and the Importance of Perception Discussed

Around 300 KTAMS members from various government departments and levels participated in the seminar. The training addressed key topics like effective communication with citizens, the role of perception in communication, the significance of both verbal and non-verbal communication, listening and empathy skills, defense mechanisms, and how to approach criticism.

Güven Bengihan, the Chair of KTAMS, highlighted that they had incorporated effective communication into the certification program they initiated to support the professional and personal growth of union members. He emphasized the significance of establishing strong communication with citizens for the efficiency of public services and noted that similar training programs would continue in the upcoming months.

At the end of the seminar, the Chair of KTAMS Güven Bengihan presented Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Türksoy a souvenir for their contributions. Moreover, attendees of the seminar were presented with certificates of participation. EMU-CEC aims to keep offering valuable contributions to enhancing the professional skills of public servants through its training programs.
