Eastern Mediterranean University Architecture Faculty, Interior Architecture Department, in collaboration with TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department, has become a pioneering unit in maintaining the coordination among Interior Architecture departments’ postgraduate programs in Turkey. In line with the collaboration settled between the department chairs of the two institutions Prof. Dr. Uğur Ulaş Dağlı and Prof. Dr. Müge Bozdayı in 2013, “Interior Architecture Departments Postgraduate Programs Research Group” was formed with the aim of ensuring interaction and communication between the aforesaid programs. Within the framework of the collaboration protocol, a series of three meetings the first of which was the advisory board meeting have been arranged.
The Advisory Board formed by the experts from EMU, TOBB ETU, ITU –IMIAD, Marmara University, Hacettepe University, Anadolu University and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, carried out their first meeting at TOBB University of Economics and Technology in May 2014. Following the Advisory Board meeting, formation of interactive and communicative platforms among postgraduate programs and their sustainability was revealed as the most important point of agenda.
During the second meeting which took place at TOBB University of Economics and Technology on 15 January 2015, representatives of 8 universities (Anadolu University, Hacettepe University, Mimar Sinan University, Marmara University, İstanbul Technical University, İzmir Economics University, Eastern Mediterranean University and Bilkent University) which have proven themselves in the field with their outstanding achievements came together. The meeting’s opening address was delivered by co-coordinator of the event and EMU Interior Architecture Department chair Prof. Dr. Uğur Ulaş Dağlı. Postgraduate Program Coordinator of the same department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kağan Günçe also attended the meeting. During the meeting, a series of presentations on education, programs, communication, interaction, collaboration, information exchange, and academic publications were delivered.
Agenda items of the third meeting which will take place in EMU in October are categorising thesis titles and a critical look on the postgraduate education in terms of academic sustainability, appointment and promotional criteria.
