Touching on the necessity of bearing the people with disabilities in mind not only on the 3rd of December but every day of the year, Prof. Dr. Doratlı also mentioned: “As EMU family, sustainability is the most important notion in our strategic plans. “Barrier-free Campus”
Stating that the reconstruction work on side-walks around the campus has commenced with the aim of improving the accessibility for people with disabilities, Prof. Dr. Doratlı continued her speech with the following: “As the Vice Rector’s Office for Administrative and Technical Affairs, we are aiming to gradually complete all the reconstruction work. If we get necessary opportunities for financial issues, the second step in process is to do reconstruction work inside the buildings in order to obtain better conditions for the visually impaired or orthopedically handicapped individuals. Our main goal is to create a campus which is viable for people with disabilities offering opportunity for them to reach wherever they want without having any obstacles”.
Emphasizing the importance of being aware towards disabilities not only on the 3rd of December but on all days of the year, Prof. Dr. Naciye Doratlı ended the statement by saying; “Being an individual with disabilities is not a choice. We are all possible candidates to have disabilities. Therefore, we shall do whatever is needed to take precautions to ease the lives of people with disabilities”.
