Cyprus Turkish Disabled Federation paid a visit to EMU Rector’s Office to receive information on the “Barrier Free Campus” project. Chair of the Federation Derviş Yücetürk and Cyprus Turkish Physically Impaired Association Chair Sedat Hacımehmet visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah Y. Öztoprak in his office.
During the visit, Prof. Dr. Öztoprak provided detailed information on the project which is financially supported by the Turkish Republic. Prof. Dr. Öztoprak also added that relevant regulations and by-laws are being prepared and that the university is offering full-scholarship to TRNC nationals who have disabilities.
Yücetürk, who congratulated EMU for the project and numerous positive developments as such, also provided recommendations for a full-barrier free campus.
Hacımehmet also expressed his admiration regarding the project and added that EMU set a sample for other similar institutions in this regard. Hacımehmet also put forth that the society should view the disabled as normal individuals and provide them equal opportunities.
During the visit, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Informatics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa K. Uyguroğlu and EMU Public Relations and Press Office Director Derviş Ekşici also exchanged information regarding the barrier-free campus project.
