The olive saplings to be distributed to not only the EMU staff members but also to the protocol of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) included a new year’s card from EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın which said: “Olive tree, one of the most important symbols of the island of Cyprus, represents abundance, peace, health, victory, prosperity and wisdom. In short, it is the symbol of the most important values for humanity. We are reaching towards the end of 2020 which has been a difficult year not only for our country but also for the entire world. It is our utmost desire for 2021 to bring humanity all the values represented by the Olive tree.
I hope that you plant the wild rootstock olive sapling produced from the seed of Cyprus’s endemic olive in your hand as soon as possible. May it bring beauty to your life as it grows. I wish you all greener and healthier days.”
