For the first time, an EMU graduate has supported the New Scholarship System launched by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) on 23 July 2020. EMU Engineering Faculty, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Doctorate Program Graduate (2010) Shahab Anbarjafari, providing the first international support to the New Scholarship System, has offered scholarships to 3 EMU students with financial difficulties. Only 9 years after graduating from EMU, where he received his undergraduate, graduate and doctorate education, Anbarjafari made the EMU Family proud after becoming a professor in his career. Anbarjafari is currently leading the Intelligent Computer Vision (iCV) research group affiliated with the Institute of Technology of Tartu University, one of the well-established universities of Estonia, and at the same time, works as Artificial Intelligence (AI) Manager at the headquarters of the Helsinki team of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), a global company with over 276,000 employees from 157 countries.
EMU graduate Shahab Anbarjafari, after receiving information about the New Scholarship System, contacted the EMU Rector's Office and stated that he wanted to support 3 students. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın talked to Anbarjafari via Skype on Wednesday, 16 September, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Hasan Demirel and Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Assoc. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu were also present at the said meeting.

During the meeting, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın stated that with the scholarship system developed by EMU successful students with financial difficulties are provided with the support of charitable business people, institutions and organizations. Stating that he is very happy to see Anbarjafari, an EMU graduate years after his graduation, Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın expressed his pride in him. Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın said “Our graduate, who heard about our scholarship system, supports this project. I am very pleased that members of the EMU Alumni are helping each other and their institutions as part of a big family."
Prof. Dr. Anbarjafari was my student in undergraduate, graduate and doctorate programs. I would like to thank him for being the first graduate providing international support to our scholarship project. Most of our university's programs are accredited by international organizations. No matter what field our graduates work in, they will surely be successful in their profession with the quality education they receive here. I wish our graduate Anbarjafari continued success.

He was a very excited and inquisitive student. He got what he wanted immediately as we have very good academicians at our university. EMU has over 60 thousand graduates. Anbarjafari has worked hard in 9 years in countries like England, Turkey and Estonia. He is currently working as an academic at Tartu University.
