Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Competition Board Chair Dr. Yenal Süreç and Vice Chair Figen Yeşilada visited Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam. EMU Business and Economics Faculty Faculty Acting Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Besim and EMU Law Faculty Acting Dean Prof. Dr. Turgut Turhan accompanied Süreç and Yeşilada during their visit.
During the visit, Dr. Süreç talked about the establishment process of the TRNC Competition Board, which took place in 2011. Dr. Süreç put forth that competition is an indispensable element of liberal or free-market economy. Dr. Süreç added that their aim is to create public awareness regarding the labor market and, at the same time, prevent monopoly. Dr. Süreç stressed the importance of legal processes for putting their aims into action and added that for the past two years, TRNC Competition Board has been receiving and evaluating complaints and initiating relevant legal processes, accordingly. Dr. Süreç also expressed the Board’s wish to collaborate with universities.
EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam thanked Dr. Yenal Süreç and Figen Yeşilada for their visit and expressed the university’s willingness in establishing mutual collaboration between the university and the Competition Board.
At the end of the visit, EMU Law Faculty Acting Dean Prof. Dr. Turgut Turhan and Business and Economics Faculty Acting Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Besim shared their views and recommendations in terms of legal and economic perspectives.
