Eastern Mediterranean University Atatürk Research and Application Center (EMU-ATAUM) carried out a project under the title of "Book Distribution to Universities" in coordination with the Republic of Turkey Embassy in Nicosia in order to ensure that the struggle of the Turkish Cypriots for existence is better understood by university students and young academicians in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Turkey, and is passed on to future generations.
As the first step of the project, four books, written by EMU-ATAUM President Assist. Prof. Dr. Turgay Bülent Göktürk and EMU-ATAUM Instructor Süheyla Göktürk and based on the national struggle of the Turkish Cypriots, were sent to the National Library in the Presidential Complex of the Republic of Turkey by the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia to be placed in the Cyprus Section of the library. .
In the second step, the books in question were sent to all universities in the TRNC and to the rectors of state and foundation universities that have libraries in Turkey by EMU-ATAUM.
In the book pack sent to a total of 114 universities, along with the book "Mujahideen Narrate", written by Assist. Prof. Dr. Turgay Bülent Göktürk and Lecturer Süheyla Göktürk and presented at the International Symposium held at EMU on 16 November 2021 with the participation of TRNC President Ersin Tatar, four books written by Assist. Prof. Dr. Göktürk on Turkey's Cyprus Policy, Vision and Practices Before 1974, Famagusta Sanjak in the Struggle for Existence and My Articles on Cyprus in the Historical Process from Hilmi Kılgın's (Hilmi Commander) Archive were also present.
Making a statement on the subject, EMU-ATAUM President Assist. Prof. Dr. Turgay Bülent Göktürk stated that they are very happy to have finalised this project, which had been considered for a long time, but postponed due to the pandemic conditions, and said, "I am very happy to take this opportunity to publish and distribute the books on Cyprus, which are included in this project, which aims to provide a better understanding of the past experiences of the Turkish Cypriots, especially to young people. We would like to express our gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia and Ambassador Ali Murat Başçeri, who supported us in the organization.”
