Objectives and basic principles of mathematics teaching; The history of mathematics education (in the world and Turkey); teaching and learning strategies in teaching mathematics; the scope, purpose and features of the elementary school mathematics program; major learning theories and their relation to mathematics learning; important skills in mathematics education, representations, communication, reasoning, problem solving (strategies, stages, problem types, etc.); use of information technologies, development of number concept in child (pre-count improvement, one-to-one corresponding, cardinal value, merging, separation, comparison, equivalence, etc.); digit value, formation and structural properties of natural numbers; arithmetic operations, related topics in the elementary school mathematics curriculum, objectives and examples of appropriate activities.
