Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Pharmacy Faculty academic staff member Assoc. Prof. Dr. H. Ozan Gülcan made an online presentation titled “Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease with Multi-target Ligands” on 28 October 2021 within the scope of the online workshop organized by Cihan University, Iraq.
During the presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülcan introduced more than a hundred drug candidate compounds for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, whose design, synthesis and biological activities have been studied together with PhD students at the EMU Faculty of Pharmacy in the last five years. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülcan shared with the participants the new approaches that these compounds present, unlike existing drugs.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülcan provided information on EMU and Faculty of Pharmacy and stated that there are a great amount of Iraqi students currently studying in EMU. At the end of the presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülcan introduced EMU Pharmacy Faculty academic staff members Dr. Karar Shukur and Janat Aljibooi, and instructor Mustafa Alhadi, whom are all from Iraq, to the participants. The workshop ended with the aim of evaluating collaborations in scientific studies in the relevant field and organizing new meetings for this purpose.
