Eastern Mediterranean University Community Involvement Center has introduced another social responsibility project. Formed by volunteering students of Public Relations and Advertising Department, Genesis IMC Agency organised a blood donation campaign under the coordinatorship of EMU Public Relations and Advertising Department and Community Involvement Center chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya, academic staff member Dr. Umut Ayman and research assistant Safiye Bağkur. The campaign took place at EMU Atatürk Square between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 21 October 2015.
During the campaign which was carried out by officials from Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital Suat Keskin, Hüseyin Yıldırımer and Metin Gençoğlan, Keskin highlighted the importance of blood donation.
Keskin stated that the only active blood bank in Northern Cyprus is located at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. Following the collection of the donations, blood goes through a set of tests and then distributed to different locations, private clinics and hospitals.
Keskin added that the age of blood donors should be between 18 and 65 and they should weigh over 50 kilograms. Keskin also stated that blood from donors who consumed alcohol within 24 hours, or who are ill or who have a blood pressure lower than 11 or higher than 19 is not accepted.
A large group of students from Genesis IMC Agency, EMU Beşiktaşlılar Club, Ultraaslan Club and Search and Rescue Club participated in the campaign.

At the end of the campaign, students of Genesis IMC Agency stated that similar events will be organised in the near future and that another blood donation campaign will take place between 4 and 6 November 2015.
