Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Architecture Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek has been selected to be on the Executive Board of the Council of Architecture Faculty Deans (MİDEKON) comprised of deans from Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The MİDEKON General Assembly meeting took place on Tuesday, the 9th of November 2019 at the Middle East Technical University (METU) Architecture Faculty. During the General Assembly, the MİDEKON Executive Board who carried out their duty from May 2017 to May 2019, shared the work carried out during their term and the content of their meeting with Council of Higher Education President Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç.
He Received the Second Highest Amount of Votes
Next, an election to identify the new Executive Board took place. EMU Architecture Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek became a candidate after being recommended by MİDEKON President Prof. Dr. Nilay Coşgun and receiving the support of METU Architecture Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Güven Arif Sargın. Five out of nine recommended candidates were selected to be on the Executive Board. After the election, Prof. Dr. Dinçyürek became the candidate to receive the second highest amount of votes. The new Executive Board will serve from November 2019 to November 2021. Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu who received the highest amount of votes will be MİDEKON President during this period of time.
Releasing a statement on the matter EMU Architecture Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek stated: “I am very proud to be on MİDEKON’s Executive Board from November 2019 to November 2021 both for personal reasons and because this will give me the honour of representing my institution at a very high level.”
