A certificate presentation ceremony and a panel for the Gender Equality Certificate Program (TOCES) KOZA was held by Eastern Mediterranean University Center for Women's Studies (EMU CWS) and Eastern Mediterranean University Continuing Education Center (EMU-CEM). Having taking place under the moderation of the President of EMU CWS Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süheyla Üçışık Erbilen, the panel was held at the Cyprus Turkish Public Officials Union (KTAMS).
The first speaker of the panel, Sociologist Dr. Doğuş Derya addressed the development of women's struggle in Cyprus and also touched upon the regulations made in the parliament on women's rights. EMU Faculty of Law academic staff member and Vice Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Bezar Eylem Ekinci explained the issue of equal representation in the judiciary within the scope of gender equality and evaluated the problems especially in terms of representation in the high judiciary. EMU Faculty of Law academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Nurcan Gündüz provided information on the “Battered Woman Syndrome” and presented examples of cases on the subject. The Cyprus Turkish Bar Association Human Rights Committee Chair Atty. Aslı Murat made evaluations by providing information about children's rights in the TRNC legislation. The last speaker of the panel, SOS Children's Village Association National Program Development Consultant Psychologist Fatma Amcaoğlu gave information about current problems with practical examples on children's rights
After the panel, KOZA Certificates were presented to those who attended the 15-week (60 hours) modular Gender Equality Certificate program and were successful in the exam by EMU-CEC President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy and EMU-CWS President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süheyla Üçışık Erbilen. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erbilen also gave information about the activities of EMU-CWS, the upcoming certificate programs and the international conference.
