Eastern Mediterranean University hosted students of Hanshin University, Korea. Stating their pleasure in visiting EMU, students expressed their fascination with the multi-cultural nature of the university.
The students stated that they took part in a competition entitled “Global Frontier” in their university and won a scholarship to visit Cyprus as a team. Students put forth that their main motive in visiting Cyprus was to study the division of the island of Cyprus and compare their findings with the situation in Korean Peninsula. During their stay, students had meetings with people from non-governmental organisations in Nicosia, and crossed the border numerous times to conduct interviews with the Greek and Turkish Cypriots.
During their visit to EMU, students had a chance to meet Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen, who provided in-depth information about EMU and Cyprus Conflict. Stating that the information they received from Prof. Dr. Sözen was very valuable for their research, students stated that after their visit to EMU, they had a chance to meet and interview more people on the Cyprus issue, thanks to Prof. Dr. Sözen. Stating their pleasure in residing in EMU Guesthouse during their stay in Famagusta, students put forth that they had a great opportunity to discover EMU and the region. At the end of the visit, students expressed their fascination with the international quality of EMU and thanked all those who supported them during their visit.
