The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Psychological Counseling Guidance & Research Center delivered a seminar on “Elderly Period and Rights” as part of the work they are carrying out to share the university’s accumulation of knowledge for the benefit of society.
The seminar was organized in collaboration with the Association of Elderly Rights & Mental Health, the Famagusta Municipality and the Famagusta Development Academy. The seminar which touched upon the developmental, social and cultural aspects of the elderly period took place at the Famagusta Development Academy (MGA). Information was shared about the perception towards aging and elderly citizens in the TRNC as well as individual and social rights of elderly citizens which are recognized and still not recognized. Work that could lead to better psychological and social welfare was also evaluated as well as practices that are implemented in the TRNC and other countries. The seminar was delivered by EMU-PDRAM experts; Psychologist Güler Ataş Buldu, Social Worker Halide Sarp and Psychologist Sıla Berfin Saklıca.
