Within the framework of Eastern Mediterranean University’s 18th Orientation and Welcoming Days activities, Eastern Mediterranean University organised tours for the newly registered students and their families with the aim of introducing cultural and local qualities of the TRNC to them. Having been taking place under the main sponsorship of North Cyprus Young Turkcell, EMU’s 18th Orientation and Welcoming Days hosted a tour of Famagusta on Friday, 2 October 2015, Nicosia and Kyrenia tours on Saturday, 3 October 2015 and a Karpaz tour on Sunday, 4 October 2015.
Famagusta Tour
Around 900 new students and family members took part in the Famagusta tour during which students visited Othello Castle, Lala Mustafa Paşa Mosque, Namık Kemal Dungeon and Walled-city.
Nicosia, Kyrenia, and Karpaz Tours
On Saturday, 3 October 2015, 1170 students and family members visited Nicosia’s Selimiye Mosque, Great Inn, Bandabulya Market Place, Yiğitler Burcu and Ledra Palas and Kyrenia’s harbour area, Kyrenia Castle and Bellapais Monastery. On Sunday, 4 October 2015, students were taken to Karpaz region and visited Dipkarpaz village and Apostolos Andreas Monastery. During the said visits, students and family members expressed their fascination with the natural and historical qualities of the TRNC.
A Seminar by Police General Directorate
Within the framework of the 18th Orientation and Welcoming Days, on Friday, 2 October 2015, a seminar entitled “Life in North Cyprus” by the TRNC Police Department was held for new students and family members. During the seminar, information on crime types, traffic rules and immigration procedures in the TRNC was provided.
