In a recent research that examined over 2500 articles of more than 3300 authors, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Tourism academic staff member Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe came second in the world and first in Europe. A Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research article titled “A Bibliometric Analysis of Lodging-Context Research from 1990-2016” written by Fevzi Okumuş, Mehmet Ali Köseoğlu, Eka Diraksa Putra, İsmail Çağrı Doğan and Mehmet Yıldız examined samples of work from 16 scientific journals (such as International Journal of Hospitality Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Tourism Management and Cornell Hospitality Quarterly) in the field lodging. In addition to Prof. Dr. Karatepe’s achievement, the research also highlighted the success of EMU and North Cyprus.
EMU at the top of Europe
In the study that included over 1100 institutions, EMU Faculty of Tourism came 13th in the world and 4th in Europe regarding articles published between 2001 and 2016. Another achievement saw North Cyprus appearing amongst 76 other countries in terms of being a university country where scientific research takes place. North Cyprus ranked 11th in the world and 4th in Europe.
