Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer, Acting Rector of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), presented a plaque of appreciation to the former Acting Rector of EMU Prof. Dr. Ülker Vancı Osam on her retirement. The plaque presentation ceremony took place on Monday, 23 October, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Prof. Dr. Tümer's office. During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tümer expressed his gratitude to Prof. Dr. Osam for her significant contributions to EMU from 2000 to 2023. Prof. Dr. Osam emphasized the importance of gratitude and noted that this was a flag relay race, indicating that they are now handing over the flag. Prof. Dr. Osam also stated her readiness to provide support whenever needed. Prof. Dr. Tümer expressed his confidence that they would collectively lead EMU to a brighter future.
Responsibilities Undertaken by Prof. Dr. Ülker Vancı Osam at EMU:
Prof. Dr. Ülker Vancı Osam began her tenure at EMU on 15 September, 2000, as a faculty member in the Department of Foreign Language Education at the Faculty of Education. She served as the Director of the Institute for Graduate Studies and Research from 14 April, 2003, to 23 June, 2003. From 23 June, 2003, to 26 February, 2004, she assumed the role of Vice Rector responsible for Student Affairs. Prof. Dr. Ülker Vancı Osam served as the Acting Rector of EMU from 11 September, 2009, to 15 October, 2009, and as Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs from 16 October, 2009, to 14 October, 2014. From 2 March, 2015, to 1 March, 2019, she held the position of Dean at EMU Faculty of Education. Starting from 1 March, 2019, she continued her service as a faculty member in the Department of Foreign Language Education at EMU Faculty of Education until her retirement on 30 September 2023.
