Special Olympics Turkey Unify Project which provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities will be held at Eastern Mediterranean University.
Hosted by Eastern Mediterranean University for the first time during the current year, the event will provide opportunities for special children to participate in various sports activities. The said children will also attend Eastern Mediterranean University’s Spring Festival.
Eastern Mediterranean University Special Olympics Unify Project will take place with the participation of 3 schools from the TRNC and 10 schools from Turkey. Within the framework of the event, 35 individuals from Turkey and 90 individuals from the TRNC will take part in mixed basketball and mixed football categories. Participating players will also be taking part in activities taking place within the framework of the Spring Festival.
Prior to the event, on 18 May 2016, Special Olympics Turkey Honorary Chair Dilek Sabancı and Eastern Mediterranean University Rector Dr. Necdet Osam will be paying visits of courtesy to the TRNC President’s Office and various other government departments.
The opening ceremony of the event will take place at EMU Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Center at 10:00 a.m. on 19 May 2016.
