The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) signed a collaboration protocol with the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) on Friday, the 22nd of December 2017 at 10:00. During the ceremony which took place at the EMU Rector’s Office, the collaboration protocol was signed by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and TÜRKSOY Secretary-General Prof. Dr. Düsen Kaseinov.
Speaking at the signature ceremony EMU Board of Trustess President İlker Edip stated that they are very pleased about the protocol to be signed with TÜRKSOY, highlighting that EMU is carrying out collaborations in the fields of academia, culture and art. Noting that such initiatives are important for the unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to open up to the world Edip wished all parties a fruitful collaboration.
In a speech of his own, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam drew attention to the importance of the Turkic world for the university. Highligting that EMU is a world university, Prof. Dr. Osam indicated that culture and art is of importance to the EMU as well as science. “I believe that this protocol will further enrich our university”.
In addition to the TÜRKSOY team the signature ceremony was attended by EMU Vice Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova, Rector’s Coordinator Asst. Prof. Dr. Arif Akkeleş, Arts and Sciences Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarsalan, Communication Faculty Dean (a.) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Agah Gümüş, Arts and Sciences Faculty Academic Staff Member Prof. Dr. Agamirza Bashirov, Education Faculty Academic Staff Member Prof. Dr. Vugar Sultanzade, Communication Faculty Academic Staff Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güneş Bashirova and Public Relations and Press Office Director (a.) Murat Aktuğralı.
The said protocol will lead to educational and cultural collaborations as it aims to provide cultural interaction and exchange between TÜRKSOY member countries, lead to scientific research about Turkish culture and run joint educational projects.
