Organized annually by the Eastern Mediterranean University Alumni Communication and Career Research Directorate (EMU-MIKA), the 10th International Career Days events continued with EMU Business and Economics Faculty. The event hosted Prof. Dr. Engin Kara from Cardiff University as the speaker of seminar titled “The Macroeconomic Effects of Increasing Economic Uncertainty” organized within the collaborations of EMU Economic Research Center (ERC) and the Business and Economics Faculty, Economics Department. The opening speech of the seminar was delivered by the Chair of EMU Economics Department and member of ERC, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Balcılar.
After completing his PhD study in Economics in University of York, UK, Prof. Dr. Kara worked as a researcher in various institutions before Cardiff University, most notably at Bristol University, Exeter University and the Central Bank of Belgium. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Kara currently works as a consultant at the IMF. Prof. Dr. Engin Kara's research mainly focuses firm pricing behavior, inflation, macroeconomic uncertainty and fiscal policy and his work within these fields has been published in top academic journals such as the journal of Monetary Economics and the journal of Money, Credit and Banking. Faculty of Business and Economics students showed great interest in the seminar where their questions were answered by Prof. Dr. Kara.
The guest of “What is your excuse?” seminar organized within the scope of the 10th Career Days was Northern Cyprus Young Businessmen’s Association (GIAD) Executive Board Chairman Muhit İnce. Talking on his professional experiences, İnce provided information about his way of thinking, the opportunities he benefitted and the problems he faced during the seminar, which took place in the form of questions and answers. The students asked İnce about their career plans and received advice. At the end of the seminar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics Assist. Prof. Dr. Yenal Süreç presented a plaque to Muhit İnce, Chairman of the GIAD Executive Board.
