Paying special importance to sports activities, Eastern Mediterranean University continues to support the organisation of tournaments and sports players. In this respect, EMU has finalised the preparations for the 5th “Cup of Nation Basketball” tournament.
Organised by EMU Sports Affairs Directorate, the tournament will take place at EMU Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Center between 14 and 25 December 2015. This year’s tournament will host 13 men’s and 11 women’s teams playing in two separate groups. Men’s Category Group A will be formed by 7 teams including Turkey, Iran, Cameroon, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan and Syria. Men’s Category Group B will have 6 teams which are Kazakhstan, Palestine, TRNC, Zimbabwe, Lebanon and Nigeria.
As for Women’s Category, teams from Russia, Kazakhstan, TRNC, Iran, Syria and Swaziland Kingdom will be playing in Group A, while Egypt, Palestine, Turkey, Zimbabwe and Nigeria will compete in group B. The official opening of the “Cup of Nation Basketball” tournament will take place at Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Center at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 14 December 2015.
The top two winning teams in each group will continue to compete against other teams with a cross matching method. On the final night of the organisation, matches for the first, third and fourth place will be played.
