Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Community Involvement Center, which has been working towards raising awareness and sensitivity on important issues both within the university and the community since 2013, has signed a collaboration protocol with the University of California (Los Angeles), International Collegiate Health Initiative (ICHI). In a statement released by the President of EMU Community Involvement Center Prof. Dr. Fatih Bayraktar, it was mentioned that in scope of the protocol, they plan to realise a series of projects especially in the field of health, the first of which will be a joint study that will raise awareness in the community about Covid-19 and HPV vaccines.
Meetings to Continue in a Systematic Format
In his statement, Prof. Dr. Bayraktar also emphasized that the University of California International Collegiate Health Initiative is an initiative that aims to provide free and quality health services to disadvantaged populations in Los Angeles, where the university is located, and consists of volunteer students mostly from the Faculty of Medicine. Adding that the protocol has been signed within the scope of the international cooperation, Prof. Dr. Bayraktar also added that the first meeting between the two institutions was held online. Lastly, Prof. Dr. Bayraktar thanked Coordinator of EMU Vice Rector’s Office for Academic Affairs Assist. Prof. Dr. Nilgün Suphi, Community Involvement Center Faculty of Medicine Representative Dr. Berfu Çerçi, EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine students, ICHI Coordinator Simon Moore, Initiative President Ahmad Elhaija and volunteer students of the University of California for their contributions.
