Eastern Mediterranean University will be holding a press conference about International Writers’ Football Tournament, one of the most important sports events to be hosted by the university between 5 and 9 May 2016. The said press conference will be taking place at Cyprus Turkish Sports Writers Association at 2:30 p.m. on 28 April 2016. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and representatives of Cyprus Turkish Football Federation and Cyprus Turkish Sports Writers Association will be attending the press conference.
Teams from Germany, Hungary, Austria, England, Turkey and the TRNC will be competing in the “EMU International Writers Football Tournament”. Over one-hundred writers and artists from the countries listed above are set to appear in the tournament which has the slogan “Football Without Borders”. Matches will take place at EMU Stadium and Famagusta Dr. Fazıl Küçük Stadium. The organization will be held in collaboration with the Turkish Sports Writers’ Association, the Turkish Cypriot Football Federation and the Turkish Cypriot Sports Writers’ Association.
Famous newspaper columnists, book writers and artists will be taking part in the tournament. Among notable names who will be participating in the tournament are Hayko Cepkin, Harun Tekin, Birol Namoğlu, Koray Candemir, Cansel Elçin, Ahmet Çakır, Bağış Erten and Can Öz.
