Eastern Mediterranean University is hosting the annual ‘Anatolian University Libraries Consortium’ (ANKOS) taking place between 26 and 29 October 2014. The official opening of the aforesaid event will take place at Salamis Bay Conti Resort Hotel at 9:00 on 27 October 2014. During the same day, EMU Rector’s Office has organised lunch for ANKOS Executive Board members at EMU Beach Club. During the same day, ANKOS officials will also visit EMU Library and EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam. A team of 50 representatives from ANKOS is expected to attend the workshop.
Established in 2000, ANKOS is a professional organisation coordinating the online database memberships for the libraries within Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Universities who obtain memberships for any database through ANKOS share the membership fees. ANKOS negotiates membership fees and conditions with database companies on behalf of the membering universities.
With the support of ANKOS, universities in Turkey and TRNC obtain database subscriptions at suitable conditions and prices and have the opportunity of accessing e-journals and e-books. Along with coordinating universities’ database subscriptions, ANKOS also provides professional guidance and assistance services in the relevant field.
