Taking place under the main sponsorship of North Cyprus Young Turkcell, Eastern Mediterranean University 17th Orientation Days commenced on 29 September 2014. During the first day of the program, international students from different countries such as Turkey, Palestine and Nigeria took part in activities taking place as part of the program. Within the framework of the program which will continue until 19 October 2014, newly arriving students will be welcomed at Ercan Airport as well as Famagusta and Kyrenia Ports and be taken to their respective dormitories.
During the 17th Orientation Days which will host numerous different activities, there will be open air cinema shows in front of EMU II dormitory every night between 6 and 10 October 2014. On 10 October 2014, a Famagusta tour, a campus tour and visits to various administrative units will take place. On the same date, a cocktail party for the newly arriving students and their families will be organised at EMU Beach Club at 7:30 p.m.
Between 11 and 12 October, tours to Nicosia, Kyrenia and Karpaz will take place. On 17 October 2014, a seminar entitled “Culture Shock” by EMU Psychological Counseling, Guidance and Research Center and another entitled “Life in Northern Cyprus” by Police Force Directorate will be held for new students and their families. Additionally, information desks at EMU-2 Dormitory, Social and Cultural Activities Directorate, Registrar’s Office and Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School will be available for new students and their families during the orientation days.
A ‘Welcoming Festival” aiming to celebrate the arrival of the new students to the university as well as introducing them with the administrative and academic units and student clubs will be held on 17 October 2014. The festival which will take place at EMU Stadium at 8:00 p.m will feature promotional activities by Faculties, Schools and student clubs as well as sports competitions, stage shows, concerts and recreational activities.
