A committee from the University of Baghdad, which was founded in 1957, the second largest university in the Middle East and the oldest university in Iraq paid a visit to EMU Rectorate on Monday, 26 August 2024 at 10:30 a.m. The committee consisting of Assistant President of Administrative Affairs Dr. Ameer Faisal Abdulameer Altamimi, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Dr. Sarmed Hashem Kathein, academic staff member of the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Mohammed Bassil Ismail and, academic staff members of Faculty of Engineering Dr. Hayder Mohammed Abdul-Hameed and Dr. Amjad Hamad Khalil visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç. Present during the said visit were; EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, EMU Vice Rector for Promotion and Institutional Communication Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, Rectorate Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Çelik and EMU Coordinator for EMU Institutional Development and International Academic Affairs Office Assist. Prof. Dr. Cahit Ezel.
Expressing his gratitude to the committee for visiting our country and university, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç noted that potential future collaborations that could be initiated between the two institutions would be discussed during the said visit and said; “I view this visit as the start of a new friendship and collaboration”. Delivering a speech on behalf of the visiting committee, Dr. Altamimi conveyed their contentment for being at EMU and thanked EMU administration for their hospitality. Within the scope of the visit, both institutions exchanged various information regarding their specific institution. Assistant President for Administrative Affairs Dr. Altamimi presented EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç a souvenir unique to the University of Baghdad. On the other hand, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç presented Dr. Altamimi a Lefkara work panel and EMU souvenirs to the members of the visiting committee.
The committee from the University of Bagdad will spend the week visiting various faculties at EMU to explore potential academic collaborations and hold meetings with the deans.
