Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Pharmacy organized an oath-taking ceremony on Tuesday - 2nd March, 2021 at 11:00 for 2020-2021 Academic Year Fall Semester graduates.
The ceremony was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın, Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu, Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. Müberra Koşar, Vice Deans, faculty members and graduating students attended the online ceremony.
“I am proud of you”
The opening speech of the ceremony was delivered by EMU Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. Müberra Koşar which addressed the graduates by saying; “Dear Pharmacists, today you have become young colleagues of mine. I am proud of you”. Stating that the pharmaceutical profession is among the most reputable professions in the world, Prof. Dr. Koşar advised the new pharmacists to prioritize notions of respect, self-confidence and perfection throughout their professions.
EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın also addressed the graduates by saying; “You are carrying a very important and also a precious professional liability. You, who will provide primary healthcare consultancy services in public health, will continue to follow the scientific developments and technologies in the profession, and also you will apply the principles and ethical understanding of the pharmacy profession in your professional lives. We have absolute confidence in you. May your path be clear in your devoted work for humanity. We know that you will adhere to the values of your profession. We are proud of you and wish you success”.
81 Young Pharmacists Took Oaths
Following the opening speeches, the messages from EMU Faculty of Pharmacy academic staff members were presented. Ceremony continued with the speeches of B. Pharm. Program top students Bilge Türkseven and Omar Mohamed A.M. Ammar and, D. Pharm. Program top student Romina Rashidfarokhi, reading of the names of the graduates and a video demonstration prepared for the graduates by the faculty members.
The graduates took the first step to their professional lives after taking an oath on using their knowledge and abilities to protect the health of patients, not to abuse their profession and to approach all patients from every religion, language and race with equality and fairness during the ceremony attended by Faculty of Pharmacy B-Pharm (23) and Pharm-D (58) program students.
