Eastern Mediterranean University organised a graduation reception for 2015-2016 Academic Year Spring Semester graduates and their family members at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, 26 June 2016. Along with hundreds of graduating students and their family members, President and members of EMU Board of Trustees, EMU Rector, Vice Rectors, deans, department chairs, and academic and administrative staff members were present at the reception sharing the graduates’ happiness and pride.
“Studying in EMU is a Privilege”
The reception commenced with the screening of “Graduation Farewell Film” and continued with the opening address of EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam. In his address, Prof. Dr. Osam welcomed all graduates and families and stated that studying in EMU is a privilege as EMU’s strong foundation has been based on quality norms. Prof. Dr. Osam also stated that the fundamental mission of EMU is to bring up quality workforce catering for the global demands.
Putting forth that the day is a source of pride and honor for them, Prof. Dr. Osam also welcomed former graduates who have completed the 25th anniversary of their graduation. Addressing graduates and their families, Prof. Dr. Osam stated that graduation is a day of honor and that new graduates will have a secure future with the diploma they are about to receive from EMU. At the end of his speech, Prof. Dr. Osam also invited new graduates to demonstrate their love and loyalty towards the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is the second homeland of the graduates.
“Be Hopeful for the Future”
Following a folk dance show by EMU Folk Dancing Community, music group “Consonants” entertained the attendees. On behalf of the graduates who have reached the silver anniversary of their graduation, Chair of Adana Chamber of Commerce Tarkan Kulak delivered a speech and thanked all those who contributed to the organisation of the event and extended his congratulations to all other graduates who are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their graduation. Kulak also stated his fascination with the university’s ongoing development and advised new graduates to be realistic, honest, hard-working and productive individuals who set goals in line with the demands of the community they live in.
Following Kulak’s address, Rector Prof. Dr. Osam presented medals to graduates who are in the silver anniversary of their graduation. The event then continued with the musical performance of singers Betül and Murat. At the end of the reception, the graduation cake was cut by Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan.
